CNN / Money Names Montville #1 in New Jersey
CNN / Money has released their list of the top 100 places to live in the U.S. and Montville ranked #1 in New Jersey and 13th in the entire nation! The list was created by a review of small towns with the order based on how well the town in question combined the criteria of economic opportunity, good schools, safe streets, things to do and a real sense of community.
Montville ranked above Hillsborough (23), River Vale(29), Marlboro (33), Berkeley Heights (45), Sayerville (47), Readington (58) and Moorestown (78).
Montville was in the top five percent of all towns listed for a low crime rate, receiving a perfect score in the category, said Money senior projects editor Jennifer Merritt.
"It has very low-crime and ease of living, which involves everything from how short a commute time is, how bearable is the weather, income, (and) percentage of kids who go to public school vs. private," she said.
"In general, what we found is that it's a very active, vibrant community and that the people there really feel that they belong to the town."
According to CNN / Money:
"Montville might be in the New York metropolitan area, but the town maintains its independence with great schools, full municipal services and an array of recreation projects. Two artificial turf fields were just added at Camp Dawson, and improvements to local parks, including the addition of a roller-hockey facility, are in the works. -A.B."
